Chaparral ROPS Xtreme
We know from experience that firefighters in "fast-moving fine fuel" areas need to ride their trucks during pump and roll.And they are doing it whether or not their truck is built to be ridden.
We engineered the BATROPS in 1989, long before any other company had thought or attempted to produce it. Like most of our product features, the BATROPS came about as a result of an incident in the firefighting field. Now, we've taken yet another step towards producing a safer environment for firefighters who need the ability to pump and roll.
Blanchat Mfg., Inc. has been working alongside Advanced Manufacturing Institute (AMI) of Kansas State University to develop a Roll Over Protection (ROP) system to accomodate a standing firefighter in the BATROPS crosswalk. After careful deliberation, we selected SAE standard J1194 "ROPS FOR WHEELED AGRICULTURAL TRACTORS" as a guideline for establishing performance requirements and testing our design.
